BlueZones: Unlocking Secrets of Longevity
- Do you have a thirst for adventure, a desire to travel the world? Blue Zones’ LifeQuest Expedition, in collaboration with the National Institute on Aging and National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, will begin its search in Okinawa; the first of four demographically confirmed longevity hotspots.
Using the highly interactive Blue Zones website, your students will have the opportunity to: (1) Direct the LifeQuest team of scientists, writers, and educators by voting on the team’s route, solving ethical dilemmas and team conflicts, and investigating cultural and scientific findings throughout their journey; (2) Identify and interview healthy, active seniors in their own communities using the LifeBridge Survey, developed with help from the National Institute on Aging, and share that research with aging experts; (3) Challenge themselves to make healthier lifestyle choices. The “My Blue Zones Tracker” will engage students to modify four key behaviors that contribute to obesity in an effort to maximize their own health and longevity.
Transport your class and become a part of our expedition team at www.bluezones.com! (National Institute on Aging and National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke) http://www.bluezones.com
